Indigo and the forty thieves: was premiered in 1871 in Vienna. It is one of Strauß‘ first operettes and is set in the middle east. It is seldomly played, since the text book was in poor condition. However, „A thousand and one nights“ and the ouverture are played frequently.

Information about the composer Johann Strauß:
* 25.10.1825 in St. Ulrich bei Wien – † 03.06.1899 in Wien

Composer of many works, such as: „Ritter Pasman“ (Opera), The Bat, A night in Venice, „Der Zigeunerbaron“,  „Waldmeister“, Indigo and the forty thieves, Operettes among other, waltzs, polkas and other dance music.
