  • Beschreibung

A night in Venice: was premiered in 1882 in Vienna. It is the ninth of Strauß‘ 15 operettes and is set in Venice of the 18th century. It is a comedy of masquerade and impersonation with love entanglements during the carnival of Venice. The operette was edited substantially in 1923 by film composer Erich Wolfgang Korngold due to the poor text. The original form is seldomly played anymore. As excerpts, the ouverture and the „Lagoon Waltz“ are played frequently.
